Third day of the Lunar New Year, and what better way to wash down the sheer gong xi gluttony of the preceding two days than with some sludge metal from Osaka—well, that was the idea anyway. In the end it was all a bit more like slug metal to me. To be fair to the band, they sound great in the studio, and I think it was more to do with the sound system/acoustics of the venue, what with (large long-haired dude) Iso’s vocals clashing with his own guitar. Then again, it seems everyone else I talked to enjoyed their set, so don’t take my word for it. In fact, I enjoyed the crowd more than anything else — sizable without being too packed, responsive with good vibes all round. Kudos to diy organisers 7x0x7 for keeping it real.
